It is interesting that one comment was that lower end cameras offer less features. We use a lot of the Hikvision cameras (I do not know if they are classed as lower end or not) and find that they are well featured- more so than some of the big brands.

However, I am finding that many manufactures are loading their cameras up with 'features' .....features that really aren't of any use or offer no real added value to the end user. Not the case for every install, but certainly the majority.

It is a little frustrating that a manufacturer will add more features to amdel, do the update model change and then charge more....find it frustrating when the original camera did what it was designed to do and really did not need any extra features added to it.

"features that really aren't of any use or offer no real added value to the end user."

It might not have 'real added value' to most users. But the top 10% or 20% of the market is quite lucrative and those features might have value to those end users, e.g., Axis

Most manufacturers have multiple tiers (whether it is Axis, with M, P and Q or rivals with similar 2 or 3 tier offerings).

You're not being fair to Avigilon. You should multiply their votes by 11, because "ten Avigilon 30 megapixel cameras can cover the equivalent of 330 1 megapixel cameras". ;-)
