I run a 128 analog camera system on a jail that currently uses a stack of eight 16-channel Ganz FX series DVRs for recording. I'm currently looking at Exacqvision and Milestone as VMS candidates to start phasing in digital. Being that we can't afford to switch all 128 cameras over at once, I'd like to move the analog cameras to the VMS and switch them to digital as the budget allows.
I see that I can buy 16 channel video encoders, and in most cases use one camera license to connect it to the VMS. I would likely purchase these used, as they're really a temporary measure. I was curious though if there was any way to use the network outputs on these Ganz recorders and run them through the VMS directly, instead of purchasing additional hardware.
