Hi,

There is a huge demand for of high-quality cameras connectivity for cities worldwide to be installed ASAP. In 2017 alone, around 10 millions cameras were installed worldwide for safe and smart city applications. Most of these projects were done with cumbersome, long term and costly fiber installations. However, in today’s rapidly changing environment, I see growing need for immediate, scalable and flexible solutions and in addition places in the city where running cable is challenging or not even an option. Alternative connectivity infrastructure is using the existing cellular network, but, due to its limited bandwidth, the cellular network cannot support high-quality camera connectivity. I'm aware that on those cases transcoding is one of the popular technologies used today to stream video over limited bandwidth over cellular networks. But all cameras have the same accessibility to the cellular bandwidth, which results in reduced video quality as more cameras are connected and become infeasible for city cameras requiring high quality video transmission.
