Entrepreneur magazine ran an article: Nike Made $6 Billion From That Colin Kaepernick Ad. Here's What All Brands Can Learn.

Leaving the politics of this aside, the advice in the article is to Be Bold, Take A Stance, Tell the World, Be Willing to Lose Customers.

So would apply that to physical security manufacturers? Would that work? What would you think they should market on?

The China situation is one, though most manufacturers are afraid to say anything or try to market gingerly around it.

Theres a big difference between marketing to consumers concerned about fashion, and marketing to businesses trying to pay their employees.
