Is it possible to delete only what you want (24 hours) rather then to format the whole HDD in a Dahua DVR and nvr ?

24 hours in the middle of other footage?
Thru the Dahua software directly?
I haven’t seen anything like that. Generally, IMHO, for evidence preservation reasons, such fine-level facilities are not available in VMS/recorders.
If you don’t care about anything older than the 24 hours, then you can try shortening the retention period enough to allow it to be written over, although it’s no guarantee when exactly that would occur.
If you can get access to a root shell prompt, you should be able to delete (or better yet overwrite with nulls), the chunks (files) in question, after identifying them in the recorder software.
Dahua has had a number of vulnerabilities/backdoors in the past, although the latest firmware may have patched these. Maybe you can still enable telnet accesss?
