Anyone who knows a little about both care to offer some commentary on comparisons?

We've tested some products from each, e.g. Raytec Vario IP Illuminator Tested and Panoramic IR Illuminator Tested (Axton Nano)

But we have not covered these companies closely recently. The big reason is the surge in integrated IR cameras and usage (e.g., Integrated IR Camera Use Dominates - 2016 Statistics).

We could help better if you gave some guidance about what applications you might be looking to use these illuminators.

Thanks, John. Admittedly we don't use a lot of supplemental IR lighting because of the reasons you state. But occasionally you run into those areas where the camera IR may not be enough and you want more coverage to illuminate dark areas or more evenly.

Some of the things I'm looking for..

- Quality of products. We're not looking for the cheapest product.

- How close they seem to match their stated performance specs.

- How they compare price wise.

- How well they are supported.

We try to stick with regular product brands, so I'm looking into experiences user.

#1, in the past, Raytec was considered the 'Axis', if you will, of IR illuminators and Axton was more of an outlier / up and comer. Since we have not covered external IR illuminators that close, not sure how that has changed. Hopefully, others have input.

Full Disclosure: AXTON is our sister company.

AXTON offers demos anywhere from one week to a month purely for T&E. If you are interested in trying out some lights, feel-free to call 1-801-519-0500, and ask for Doug. Doug will be able to advise an appropriate solution for your application, and arrange for a demo.
