In this example, the RCI 8310 maglock has a maximum bond strength of 1500 pounds. Or rather: it takes more than 1500 pounds of force to physically separate the armature (door side) from the magnet (frame side).
In general, this holding or bond force rating is how the overall strength of the lock is specified. A small maglock designed for cabinet doors may be 85 pounds, while a maglock for an entry door can be 1200 pounds or higher.
