Excited about starting my first official IP Network training class. We are planning an expansion of our gaming facility and this will be the our first time installing and using IP cameras, approximately 75 cameras. If anyone has any advices on some definitely Do's and Don'ts I'm willing to take suggestions.

Thank you

Stan, how important is frame rate to your facility? Many gaming facilities are quite strict with frame rate (e.g., has to be 30fps). If that is important to you, you want to check carefully before buying as many cameras are specified for 30fps, etc. but might only normally do 27 or 29, etc.

Regulations do state 30fps on gaming floor and cash areas. Other areas, bars, lounges, restaurants, back of house are not regulated.

Is the expansion including some existing analog cameras, or will it be an IP replacement of all cameras at once?

We currently are running approx. 450 analog cameras so the IP will be an add on.

Hi,

How about the light conditions in the game rooms ? Many game rooms don't have optimal light conditions.

I did a quick search and found some guides which may inspire you, although I can't judge whether these sources are independent. I recommend the articles on low light systems on IPVM too.

Information on securing casine rooms: http://www.casinojournal.com/ext/resources/Static-images/ebooks/CJ_eBook.pdf

On the other side, common specs for camera's in such locations are:

  • Where cameras are installed in the gaming floor area, camera's should match ceiling color. (ie. sprayed, coated.)
  • Required Camera features: 1920x1080HD, 1080p, 30 fps
  • Low light capable where applicable
  • Built-in Analytics
  • Wide dynamic range
  • External Microphone Input (check law regulations)
  • H. 264 Image compression
  • ONVIF compliant
  • IP Power over Ethernet

Kind regards,

Geert

Stan, my casino recently switched over to IP cameras. It's important to keep anything organized as much as possible, labeled and know where everthing is at. It will help in a long run for troubleshoot with less headach.

Hi Stan

There are some great planning tools out there and i would recommend utilizing these tools. they make the planning and installation process very easy. also they give you scenarios which will help you understand what cameras will best suit. for example if you would need facial recognition at a certain area.
