I am looking for specifications or recommendations on how people do alarm verification via separate zone trips. I know how it works and how to program. I am looking more for device placement, number of devices etc. to make sure it works properly and is not defeated.

Cross Zoning is a broad term as different folks assume different meanings.
Same methods you would use when in a pinch and find yourself at bunch of flow valves with [1] 4 conductor cable, yet you need [3] zone trips and a trouble indication on a fire circuit and the Fire Marshall is on the way!
