The December 2009 Security Sales and Integration magazines includes an interview with 6 industry professionals discussing the future of the market [link no longer available]. Interviewees include GE Security, VideoIQ, Cisco, PSA, ScanSource and a consultant. It's a fairly standard exchange with both Cisco and VideoIQ advocating their approaches (i.e., Cisco emphasizes the network and VideoIQ stresses video analytics).
One quote from Robert Grossman on video analytics stood out for its frankness: "Video analytics is a great example of a product category that repeatedly shoots itself in the foot."
Also, towards the end is a discussion on the role and ability of integrators to stay up to date on leading technologies.
