WOW, I would love to visit that place. I would suggest a second option might be the side exposition hall at ISC West?

We did a walkthrough of that area earlier in the year:

It's different. Big pluses - they people in those booths speak English and its close by; Big negatives - further removed from the 'source'.

I'd guess that there are some manufacturers in that hall that have booths here. Some small Shenzhen companies seem to use the market as their "showroom" (having a showroom is a big thing there) or simply as the retail shop. While I was looking for map info on this place I found more than one company who had a factory address and then gave their stall number here.

Great info, Ethan!

Any sense of who is buying at this place and the breakdown/split? Is it DIY? Integrators, Exporters, OEM Purchasing Agents, etc.......

Any idea if each booth/stall is an entity unto itself--independent businesses? Or does the whole thing (or large sections of it) maybe tie back into just a few large manufacturers or suppliers who are maybe running it?

Generally, I think OEM purchasing agents don't do business here. They're working larger deals and can do it directly with a supplier instead of going to these resellers. Installers, DIYers, foreigners are the main markets here, likely in that order. This effectively is the distribution channel in China, since there's no ADI, Tri-Ed, etc., (though I think there's an Anixter office, but nobody over there ever mentioned them).

I think that most booths are independent. Someone over there told me there are 4000+ security companies in Shenzhen (counting installers, resellers, manufacturers, etc., the whole market). With numbers like that, I'd bet that most are independent. According to Hikvision and Dahua, anyone you see selling their product is a reseller, not a direct factory arm.

Interesting post and very familiar booths photos :-)

Pacific market place, in Shenzhen, services mainly the re-sellers from all over China. It's right next to SaiGe market which does the same but for cell phones.

Shenzhen carries the nick name of "Capital of security industry". More than 2000 small-mid security companies registered here in this amazing small city but their sales counts more than half of yearly total in China. That could be one of the reasons that mega CPSE show gets hosted there every other year.
