Dahua Massive American Expansion

Published May 04, 2015 04:00 AM

Dahua did $1.1 billion USD revenue last year, making it way larger than Axis and only trailing their domestic rival Hikvision.

However, Dahua remains far behind both Axis and Hikvision in North American.

Now, Dahua is ramping up a massive American expansion. In this note, we dig into what is happening, what jobs are available and what impact this may have on the American market.

Is that counting their U.S. OEM sales?

Yes, especially considering that Hikvision still has a substantial OEM presence itself in the US.

Basically, Hikvision has a big OEM business and a big direct branded business.

Of course, with its own branded business, Hikvision no longer has to worry that their OEMs will drop or switch them to the next Chinese company who will see for less, a concern to all the Chinese OEMs.

The largest companies in a market cannot and do not depend on third party OEMs to build their business. They need to build their brand and provide a unified front / organization to efficiently sell and support customers, like their top competitors do.

You seem to be implying that the massive expansion is a harbinger of Dahua starting to sell Dahua branded product in the U.S., am I reading you right?

Dahua tends to be coy on this, but I doubt they are going to hire a large American marketing and sales organization simply to support their OEMs, as it would be an unnecessary / wasted expense.

Maybe they are going to roll-out the mothballed www.dahua-usa.com, mentioned here?

Coincidentally, the contact address of that site in Davie, Florida is just a few miles from the Dahuan Product Manager's location...

If they hire the right marketing and channel managers they have potential for opportunity here in the usa. The only problem I see is there is no vms company left for them to buy to compete with the new "ecosystem" play other vendors have been pushing. Omichannel is the wave of the future for retail and think its slowly trickling into the security space.

"there is no vms company left for them to buy"

Did someone buy Genetec overnight? :)

I think there are enough independent VMSes left to be purchased: What Independent VMS Will Be Bought Next?
