It likely costs a fortune to ship the products back to China, so it makes sense to sell them for cash, even pennies to the dollar.
Small Chinese Manufacturers at ISC West
There were ~100 small Chinese, Taiwanese and Korean vendors with tiny booths at ISC West 2015.
IPVM spoke to a number of these companies to better understand what they were pitching and how they competed.
In this note, we share our findings, including images and video.

Good write up, Derek, and interesting piece. It seems pretty amusing the sell off of equipment the last day, but in a way makes sense. The equipment is so cheap it's probably more to ship that make it.
For a number of years now the so called small off shore ccv companies have been showing up at ISC west and for the most part they tend to cluster together which as lead me to believe that their all part of single larger corporate group based on nationality. Note that the booths tend to be sub-par in size. Their art work tends to be above average. I would perfer something a litle more established myself. Just a through or two
From what I recall, and someone correct me, my understanding was that selling anything directly out of a booth was against the rules, essentially to stop ISC West from being a flea market.
"ONLY after the conclusion of the event and must be accompanied by the Exhibitor’s bill of sale for verification by security personnel."
They were selling "cash only, no credit or debit cards" so I doubt there was going to be any bill of sale.
In which case, security wasn't doing their job checking what was being removed from the exhibition hall.
You going to seriously check every person walking off the show floor? Not logistically feasible unless you want to piss people off.
Especially since there was an easy side exit on the hall where all these vendors were clustered.
I visited many of the Chineese vendors and bought two of their kits. To my surprise the picture on one of the kits was breath taking. (considering a 4 camera kit was under $100!) Color was spot on and the picture was very sharp with detail down to me lighting my face with a candle at 40 ft.! Neat-o
I am about to comission a Hybrid DVR with a PTZ and a controller. We will see how good it is.
Maybe you can provide us updates from time to time. Would be interesting to see how well it holds up until the next show.
12 months ago I bought a cheap 4 cam NVR system from one of them. I've had 3 cams fail. 1 outdoor cam drowned, the other 2 had their IR arrays die.
From another vendor I've bought an array of switches. Only 2 died out of 20 or 30 odd deployed but at the price they were selling, it wasn't a major issue to replace.
Dang, I missed the Rubic's Cube cam. You guys really dig deep into your stories.
did you visit Tiandy? any input from them?
At times there were more Chinese in my booth than Hoale.
Do you mean haole?
In Hawaii, it typically refers to white people only, not anyone from Asia.
Yes. Maybe Charles meant something else though.
Yes, it typically means white people, especially now that is used in a pejorative sense, though apparently it historically means non-Polynesian. I was just teasing him anyway.
One thing barely more on topic, do you know the name of the locomotive technology used at 6:49? I need to get out more because I have not seen one of those before....
that is nice, hat is the name of this artifact?
Just saw the video, and it seems there was a manufacturer called "FOC Tek". Not the best choice for a brand name in the U.S. market, I suppose....
