So is there a good solution for existing domes in the field? I've looked at motorcyle wind screen products but am concerned about damaging the dome.

Raindrops collecting on domes can lead to big problems.
Not only can they interfere with video when it rains, they can leave behind residue film and collect dirt over time leading to persistent problems.
Digital Watchdog has announced 'CleanView [link no longer available]' coatings free of charge on select models, which it claims "repels moisture, and provides extreme protection against dust, grease, grime, oil stains and smudges."
However, how does this work, how long does it last, and will special handling be required? We examine CleanView in this note.

Jan 13, 2015That's a fair question. In some locations it may be especially challenging to keep the dome from being touched.

Jan 14, 2015Are you talking about a wiper housing? That idea is not exclusive to Bosch, and multiple 3rd party housings with wipers are available.

Thanks for that video. I think the Moto Solutions product (Michael mentioned a similar product above) would work with the same basic effect as CleanView.
It is a hydrophobic oil, and the impact appears essentially similar. However, unlike CleanView, it must be buffed after application to eliminate cloudy spots, and the manufacturer says an application lasts "several weeks from one application. But Raincoat® will gradually lose its effectiveness with heavy rain or frequent washing."
While it appears to be more durable to touches, the film does not last very long before recommended touchups. (RainCoat's Weeks vs. CleanView's Two Years) I think it is safe to use, but it must be applied properly, buffed out, and reapplied to maintain the effect.
