A 2013 study found that body cameras led to a massive reduction in use of force incidents and officer complaints. However, a new Justice Department report shows that the benefits of using body cameras are not reaped when they are implemented improperly.
Despite all officers using body cameras, the Albuquerque police still killed 20 people in the past three years.
The Justice Department found that Albuquerque police officers were using deadly force too often and most of the shootings were unconstitutional. Apr 23, 2014In defense of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) regarding the cameras not being turned on, I've been told when you think you've turned it on, it wasn't. And, in the heat of the moment you can't take it off to check whether or not it's been turned on correctly. I think at that moment checking to make sure it did go on is the least of their worries.
My friend hated his scorpion so I gave him a Swann camera Swann HD ThumbCam Mini 720p Digital Video Camera which he loved because he didn't have to go through alot of hassle to turn it on.

Apr 24, 2014Vievu is popular with local LE here in NW Ohio. At my previous employer, we sold this brand to a local LE dept and they loved them.
There is no wondering if it is on or not. If the shutter door is open, it is recording. If it is closed, it isn't. Easy enough for the officers to tell by feel alone. They don't have to search for a small button or look for an indicator light. Slide the shutter down and you are recording. Finished with your stop, slide it back up to close and turn off the recorder. Simple.
