I think this is the first time I've seen the test subject smile.

Multiple people mentioned to me, "Why doesn't anyone smile in those shots?! They look like mugshots." and I told him about it. He's made it a point to smile since.

Who wouldn't be happy to work with a great group of professionals with such a great community?

Thanks for illustrating something I have been telling Integrators since the Panoramics came out. The drastic drop in pixel density over distance makes them great for overview, but not so much for Facial or other ID uses.

Dennis, yes, indeed, it would even be a far more severe drop with a more 'typical' 60-80 degrees lens.

Would you compare the Arecont Vision 180 or 360 panoramic camera since it has 4 imagers each with 2MP

Tariq, multi-imager panoramics are definitely comparable to fisheye ones and wide angle lenses. We plan to do head to head tests later this year.

In this case, an Arecont 180 would cover a similar, but moderately wider, FoV to the Axis M3006. The details would likely be greater (because of the 4 imagers dividing the FoV into 45 degree quadrants). However, the price would be 2 or 3x times more. It would be a good test to do.

I think the big advantage is that the 4 imagers camera will not have the curved wall issue. It will be interesting to see how the VMS will handle such camera.

Tariq, we have already tested an Arecont multi-imager camera - the 20MP version - see test here.

VMSes typically display them as 4 separate camera feeds. The user can then line then up side by side. It's not as seamless but you do not have the dewarping/stretching issues as demonstrated above.
