For every step forward, sometimes you take three or four steps back. That thought may come to mind of those championing gender equity in the security industry or at least trying to pull the market out of the stone ages.

In this video advertisement published to ADI Distribution's YouTube Channel [link no longer available], we are privy to a scene of clearly mistaken intentions:

Now, the viewer might presume the counter clerk to be a overweight chauvinist secretly on the prowl for illicit pornography. However, we are surprised to realize he simply is working himself up over the online inventory portal of racy security devices at ADI Global. The hard charging, moralistic boss stumbles in awkwardly midscene, but is himself relieved when it all proves to be a misunderstanding. We learn later that the website is so potent that the boss sneaks a quick after hours look for himself.

In all, the advertisement is at best, uncomfortable, and at worst, corny. Huge portions of the security industry are working to detach themselves from the 'stag party' reputation garnered in years past.

ADI wants to be viewed as a higher end establishment and clearly does not like its reputation as a trunk slammer supplier. However, just like a porn site, all it takes is a fixed jaw and a credit card to open an account. Unfortunately, videos like this do nothing to engender the sophisticated image that ADI is attempting to foster.

Alas, ADI seems a perfect match for the testosterone loaded 'Men of Monitronics'.
