Does Samsung offer cloud services like Dropcam.

What is the pricing?

Itamar,

Samsung does not offer cloud services like Dropcam (recording to the cloud & fully integrated exporting of recorded media). Recorded video on the SmartCam's save directly to the SD Card.

This also means that there is no price or monthly cost when using Samsung SmartCams, unlike Dropcam that offers 7 and 30 day paid cloud recording between a monthly and yearly subscription.

You can use the Smart Viewer software to view the camera live, playback, and search/download. The download interface is very refined, and you can select avi or a watermarked format.

You need to manually add the camera to SmartViewer. Use the IP installer tool to view the IP address, HTTP port (80), & Device Port (4520).

If you right-click the video feed, you can select the video profile/resolution.

Could you clarify whether a live view can be accessed WITHOUT the need to forward ports on the router, either manually OR by UPnP? This looks like it would suit a particular need, but opening incoming ports in the router or firewall will most likely be impossible.

Derek, in light of what undisclosed A claims, I can't see anyway that Dropcam is superior to the Smartcam, and numerous ways it is inferior. Do you agree?
