Ric Leong, from CAO to CFO.
New CFO For Avigilon?
Yes, that was announced on June 25th.
We did not cover it because it was not a major change and since there is so much other Avigilon coverage on the site.
Since he has never been a CFO or even a VP at any company before Avigilon, it's a big jump up for him.
He looks fairly young. What a job to have!
Usually appointing a permanent CFO is viewed as widening of the power base. Its also a good oppurtunitity also to bring in someone from another firm or even industry with a balanced perspective. And unlike most cross-industry exec moves, which entail significant risk, CFO's, due the job's heavy reliance on generally accepted standards and principles, often make successful transplants.
In this case though, because of Ric's limited executive experience and exposure, this promotion appears like a further power consolidation by upper, upper management.
Certainly a challenge for him!
