Correction: Product name is RANGE-R.

Has anybody heard of this thru-wall technology from L3?

$6,000 but L3 only for LE.

... agencies, including the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service, began deploying the radar systems more than two years ago with little notice to the courts and no public disclosure of when or how they would be used. The technology raises legal and privacy issues because the U.S. Supreme Court has said officers generally cannot use high-tech sensors to tell them about the inside of a person's house without first obtaining a search warrant. The radars work like finely tuned motion detectors, using radio waves to zero in on movements as slight as human breathing from a distance of more than 50 feet. They can detect whether anyone is inside of a house, where they are and whether they are moving.

Tomographic sensors aren't really that new. Other companies have been making a run at the intrusion market for years, ie: Miracle Alarm Sensor? (Xandem)

No not at all. Decades old in fact.

But this is different than the Xandem sensor in a significant way. It determines location of movement allowing the realtime tracking of targets in opaque structures, as opposed to simply motion/no motion sensors.

That is what I intended by saying surveillance thru-walls.

They can detect whether anyone is inside of a house, where they are and whether they are moving.

Though there are others that also claim to detect location, they seem to be quite large suitcase style, multiple point deployments, but I wouldn't rule out that someone else has a handheld device like this. It was new to me at least.

btw, Xandem is getting ready to release a motion location device soon.

This is what Xandem claims too.

Demo at 6:56 mark:

Yes, that is what they claim TMDL will do. It doesn't sound like its a quite a production release yet.

Xandem’s upcoming TMDL product both detects and locates motion over entire floor plans. No device is worn by the person being located. Developers can use APIs and cloud services to build their own products and applications.- Xandem TMDL

But I think I'll wait for the Xandem anyway, it's likely to be a bit more affordable.... :)

thx for the title change...

TMDL is a software update that uses the same hardware/sensors as TMD.

I only bring this up to say that Xandem has claimed and demo'd location tracking from the very beginning, not to beat a dead horse.

Perhaps, but they have not released a product for general sale that does that yet.

I did find this from 2012:

On sale for $22,900. Looks cool.
